These are the specs I found when doing some digging. If damage was possible, would it be to the receiver/amp, the speakers or the equalizer.

If the EQ is on the surround channels they will sound um strange (all lows and highs with no mids) and potentially damage the surround speakers. The EQ'd signal will be required on the front stereo channels for the 901's to sound right but not on the surround channels.
